Open Door continues to be committed to the current at-risk youth population, as well as future at-risk populations, by providing ongoing academic support, behavior modification strategies, combined with education awareness for gang intervention, recruitment prevention, and outreach services. Our strategic planning and collaborative efforts will continue to provide structure, positive leadership & guidance, and positive alternatives to gang cultures and lifestyle.

YMCA

YMCA is an After School program dedicated to developing the whole child. Our daily curriculum makes us a unique child care provider for children 5 years old to 12, and sets us apart from others. We provide a mentoring relationship between your child and our caring staff that maximizes their personal empowerment, exploration and learning. A safe setting, character values, positive role models and enrichment activities area all part of the Y child care experience. Program times run from 3:15-6:00pm Monday-Friday in the YMCA rooms located near 37th and Gilpin.

YouthBiz

YouthBiz Startup: Nike, Cheetos, Jumpstreet!! All the people who started those businesses found a problem and created a business to solve it! Now, with YouthBiz StartUp, you have a chance to create what could be the next big thing!! In this after school class, you’ll create a team, come up with a business idea, find out about other businesses that are doing something similar, create a prototype, and prepare and present a professional business pitch –Shark Tank style – to a panel of judges for a chance to win $100!!

Dates: 9/18-11/13 NO CLASS ON 9/25

TUESDAYS ONLY FROM 3:30-4:30PM, 5th grade

Salvation Army Denver Red Shield After School Program

The Salvation Army Denver Red Shield After School Program is a state licensed program for children ages 5 – 12.  Students receive daily homework assistance, snack, STEM activities, crafts, free play, and Kid’s Fit Go physical activity time. The program runs Monday – Friday from 2:30-6:30pm.  Weekly fee is $55 and CCAP is accepted.  All staff are CPR/First Aid Certified, background checked, and Mandated Reporter Certified.

City Wild

Since 1998, cityWILD has engaged youth in the typically exclusive world of outdoor education and recreation. Our free after-school program offers students 5th – 12th grade (ages 11-18), a place to feel safe and supported, opportunities to learn new skills such as rock climbing and rafting, and encourages them to achieve their highest goals. CityWILD’s after-school program runs Monday – Thursday, from 4pm to 6pm. Pick-up and drop-off transportation is offered for students that live within a 3 mile radius. Program will be offered to students with opportunities for day, weekend, and overnight trips throughout the school year. CityWILD is located at 1620 E 36th Ave, Denver, CO 80205 Our staff can be reached at 303-227-6862 for more information.

To participate in programs student need to:

  • Pick up a registration packet from the cityWILD office or school office
  • Fill out all the information and have it signed by a parent or guardian
  • Bring the registration packet with them to cityWILD on the first day of participation

Desde 1998, cityWILD ha involucrado a los jóvenes en el mundo típicamente exclusivo de la recreación y educación al aire libre. Nuestro programa gratuito ofrece a los estudiantes de los grados 5 a 12 (11-18) un lugar para sentirse seguros y apoyados además de oportunidades para aprender nuevas habilidades, como la escalada en roca y balsear en el río (rafting). También los anima a alcanzar sus metas más altas. El programa después de la escuela de cityWILD se lleva a cabo de Lunes a Jueves, de las 4pm a las 6pm y se ofrece transporte de ida y vuelta para los estudiantes que viven dentro de un radio de 3 millas.
